Orthopaedic devices – orthoses and bandages

Orthoses and bandages are orthopaedic devices and perform the task of correcting the body from the outside. Using an orthopaedic device can aim to achieve various goals depending on the needs of the patient:

  1. After an operation, an orthosis can take on a limiting and supporting function to enable controlled and safe movement.
  2. Orthoses can also support functionality and supplement therapy if the muscle activity is too low or too high.
  3. Functional orthoses and bandages

Nowadays, functional orthoses and bandages are the standard of technology in the treatment of diseases and impairments of the musculoskeletal system. In the past, joints were first treated with fixations and stiffeners, often in the form of a plaster cast. This made the patient’s everyday life considerably more difficult. Furthermore, subsequent complaints, such as muscle atrophy and tendon shortening were common.

Orthopaedic devices such as functional orthoses and bandages, which, as their name suggests, enable movement, i.e. function, have established themselves as an alternative. Our devices enable patients to be guided in motion. Therefore they may carry out their movements safely without endangering tendons, ligaments and fascia.
