Lumbar Spine / Thoracic Spine
The corset system designed for spinal stabilization between about the ninth thoracic vertebral body. From conservative fracture treatment and post-operative use through to complete rehabilitation.
Characteristics
• The metal rails are easy to mold.
• Extremely good compliance is achieved thanks to the ideal width and the comfortable padding of the pads.
• The clip fastener makes putting the brace on and taking it off simple.
• Compression padding for the waist.
• Ideal for fractures in the transition area between the thoracic and the lumbar spine.
Indications
• conservatively treated vertebral fractures
• spondylodesis; stiffening of existing vertebral segments
• spondylolisthesis; vertebral sliding
• following prosthetic intervertebral disk replacement
• following spinal canal stenosis surgery
• following spinal tumour surgery
• following spine-straightening surgery in the treatment of scoleosis
• following spine-straightening surgery in the treatment of Bechterew's disease
• following kyphoplasty; straightening of an osteoporotic fracture with bone cement filling
• fracture prevention in osteoporosis
Mode of operation:
The MKS Thorecta corset is based on the 3-point principle combined with additional limitation of lateral flexion provided by the thoracic brace in the area of the thoracic spine. Owing to the straightening up of the spinal column by the front and back pieces the individual sections of the thoracic and lumbar spine are relieved. The wide thoracic brace provides additional limitation of lateral flexion thus leading to an even higher degree of immobilization and relief in the entire treatment area. The compression applied between the iliac crest and the thorax (cherry pit effect) provides additional relief to the lumbar spine.
The MKS Thorecta corset consists of a chest piece and a dorsal piece available in different heights depending on the size of the patient and on the type of treatment. The two pieces are linked to each other by textile straps and strap fasteners. The chest and back pieces of the MKS Thorecta corset consist of aluminum rods that can be adjusted to the anatomic shape of the patient. These aluminum rods accommodate plastic pads, which, together with the textile straps, provide the support. Any parts pointing towards the body are covered with padding.
